With a plethora of long, sandy beaches, and narrow cobbled streets that fill with the smell of grilled fish each evening, Ericeira is a gorgeous setting for a sun-filled and sandy getaway.

The property is adorned with artwork from Portuguese artist Ana de Jesus, whose nautical-themed installations draw inspiration from the sleepy fishing village that Ericeira once was. The rooms are bright and spacious, with cool tones of white, gray and blue creating a relaxing ambiance. Many also have balconies with sea views, offering the perfect setting to watch waves crashing against the surrounding rocky coastline at sunrise and sunset.

Reserva FLH Hotels Ericeira comes well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay: a flatscreen TV, WIFI throughout the hotel, and a 24-hour front desk. Every morning, between 8 am and 10:30 am, guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast in the hotel’s light and airy breakfast room, which offers an array of local produce. In terms of location, Reserva FLH Hotels Ericeira is just a short walk from three great beaches. Just 250 yards away in Pescadores Beach. Within 350 yards of the property is Baleia beach, a long sandy and sheltered beach that is good for swimming, surfing, and skimboarding. If you’re into your resorts, Vila Galé Ericeira is the hotel for you. Looming over Baleia beach, this striking white and green building is hard to miss. Formerly a mansion, Vila Galé is now a super-hotel boasting all the facilities you would expect from a 4-star resort. The rooms are traditionally decorated – if a little dated – and many offer beautiful views over the North Atlantic. 

There are two on-site swimming pools for adults, one with saltwater. There’s also a wellness center, with a modern Satsanga Spa fit with massage rooms, a hydromassage pool, sauna, Turkish bath, and gym. From an extensive room service menu to two on-site bars and a restaurant, there are also plenty of dining options to choose from. While the resort’s wide range of facilities gives guests little reason to leave, the hotel is also surrounded by many beautiful beaches, making it a great base from which to explore Ericeira’s coastline.

Vila Galé is a great place for families with young children. With waterslides, a play area, and a kids club, there’s plenty to keep children entertained. The best bit? Kids under the age of 12 stay and eat for free!

With a communal terrace complete with an outdoor fireplace and shower area, guests rave about Eco Soul’s utterly relaxing ambiance. With just 5 rooms, it can be difficult to secure a booking here, so make sure to reserve well in advance!

Eco Soul Guesthouse has a more rural positioning than some of the other hotels on our list. It is nestled on the edge of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, making it a good stay for those with an interest in nature and hiking. The São Julião Beach is also just a 7-minute walk away, a popular surfing destination which is considered one of most beautiful and wildest beaches in the region. While there are a handful of places to eat nearby, the actual center of Ericeira is 3.1 miles away.  While there are taxis available, it’s worth hiring a car to properly explore the surrounding area.

All in all, it’s an excellent place to stay and comes highly recommended.

Selina Boavista is somewhere between a high-end hostel and a guest house. It’s a very stylishly decorated property, with plenty of comfortably furnished communal areas to relax and meet other guests. There’s an outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers to enjoy the powerful Portuguese sun, as well as a rooftop terrace with sea views. 

Whether you’re after a private room, a family suite, or a bed within a shared dorm, there are many different accommodation types at Selina. The hostel also has Wifi throughout and serves a buffet breakfast to all guests each morning. Selina Ericeira is located in Rua da Boavista, a quiet street cornering the main road that leads to the town center. Pescadores beach is accessible via steps, just a 350-yard walk from Selina, while Sao Sebastiao Beach is just over half a mile away. A particular highlight is that the hostel regularly organizes surf lessons for those looking to hit the board during their time in Ericeira.

For those who prefer the beach to the pool, there’s a number of sunbeds at Sul Beach specifically reserved for guests. You can also book surfing lessons here. With a unique combination of self-contained apartments and hotel facilities, you get the best of both worlds at You and The Sea.

The rooms are light, airy, and comfortably decorated, with minimalist decor accented by subtle pops of color. Many rooms come with private terraces, offering great views of the garden and the sea in the distance. It’s the staff that makes Beach House Outerinho special. The friendly Portuguese owners go out of their way to ensure their guests have everything they need for a comfortable, relaxing, and fulfilling stay. 

If you’re after a really central location, Beach House Outerinho may not be the place for you. The guest house is located a short drive from the center of Ericeira and 1.6 miles from Sao Sebastiao Beach. If you don’t want to rely on taxis, it’s advisable to hire a car or a bike when staying here. Luckily car and bicycle rental are both available at the guesthouse.

At just a 3-minute walk from Pescadores Beach, Vila Ana Margarida Hotel has a superb location for exploring Ericeira and the surrounding coastline. However, due to its central position, it can get quite loud in some of the hotel’s rooms at night – something to consider if you’re after peace and quiet.
